| THE WRITE STUFF (from Maverick)I love the crisp, cool temperature of fall and can sit outside for hours sniffing the pheasants, ducks, and geese. They’re fortunate we are separated by a fence because I’m an expert at flushing and fetching. NEW PUZZLE! Thomas, Sam, Nadir, and Austin are friends and compete in the Turkey Trot every Thanksgiving. They each wear a jersey they’ve collected in past races.—Cardinal red, Little Falls purple, Duluth blue, and New London black. They trained hard but the temperatures plummeted overnight and they finished in either 20, 21, 22, or 23 minutes. What did each runner wear and how long did each take to finish? 1. The runner in the Cardinal jersey finished 1 minute after Thomas. 2. Sam, the competitor who finished in 22 minutes, and the competitor who finished in 20 minutes were all different runners. 3. The runner in the Cardinal shirt finished 1 minute before the contestant in the Little Falls shirt. 4. The runner in the Cardinal shirt was either the competitor who finished in 20 minutes or Nadir. 5. The runner in the Little Falls shirt finished sometime before the competitor in the Duluth shirt. |
