THE WRITE PAGE With so many wonderful events in October, the month has flown by. I had book signings, met with book clubs, launched Santa, Snowflakes & Strychnine and the Secret Staircase Holiday Anthology, spoke to an Advanced Placement high school English class, joined an interesting ZOOM call with mystery writers Tracy Clark and Sylissa Franklin, read much, and wrote more. Among my favorite reads this month are: Connie Shelton‘s Tricky Sweet It’s Spring Break and a trio of California college kids head out, only to get lost in the mountains of New Mexico. What a trip it turns out to be! Then Samantha Sweet and her daughter are called upon by one of the boy’s sister to investigate her his disappearance. Susan Slater‘s Widow’s Walk It’s a family investigative affair when Dan and Elaine Mahoney are finally settled in St. Augustine, Florida, Elaine has her brand new private investigator’s license, and Dan’s mother is the number one suspect’s new girlfriend! Nita Prose‘s The Maid Molly Gray navigates her world a little differently. She struggles with social skills and misreads the intentions of others. The Maid explores what it means to be the same as everyone else and yet entirely different—and reveals that all mysteries can be solved through connection to the human heart. Frank Backman’s My Grandmother Asked Me To Tell You She’s Sorry Elsa tells another heartwarming story, a journey of life and death and an ode to one of life’s most important human rights: the right to be different. ISSUE 7 (some) RIDDLE SOLUTION(s)(1) (5×5×5)-(5×5)=100(2) (5+5+5+5)*5=100(3) (5×5×5)+(-5)*(5)=100NEW RIDDLEAuthor of “Alice in Wonderland,” Lewis Carroll was a mathematician and occasionally kept track of puzzles that occurred to him. Included in “Lewis Carroll’s Games and Puzzles” compiled by Edward Wakening is this logic puzzle. WHO’S TELLING THE TRUTH? The Dodo says that the Hatter tells lies.
